What is merge pdf?

PDF merging combines pages from two or more PDF files into a single new document. PDFora keeps the pages of each source file together and follows the file order shown in the upload list.

How to use Merge PDF

  1. 1

Add at least two PDF files.

  2. 2

Use the reorder controls or drag on supported desktop browsers to set the file sequence.

  3. 3

Select Merge PDF and wait for the combined document to be created.

  4. 4

Download the merged PDF and confirm the page sequence.

Why use this tool?

Merging is useful when related material arrives as separate files but needs to be shared, reviewed, printed, or submitted as one document. Common examples include reports with appendices, invoice batches, forms with supporting documents, and scanned sections of the same record.

How PDFora works

After you select and order the source PDFs, the browser combines their pages into a new document and prepares the merged copy on your device. Document contents are not sent to PDFora servers.

Common ways to use Merge PDF

  • Combine a cover letter, form, and supporting documents
  • Join monthly reports into a single archive
  • Create one submission from several scanned sections
  • Collect invoices or receipts into one PDF

Tips for better results

  • Name your source files clearly before upload if you are working with many documents.
  • Set the final file order before processing; the merge follows the displayed sequence.
  • If a source PDF is sideways, rotate it first for a cleaner final document.
  • Compress the merged result afterward if the combined PDF is larger than your target upload limit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the PDF order before merging?

Yes. Use the on-screen reorder controls. Desktop drag-and-drop is also supported where the browser provides it.

Does merging edit page content?

No. The merge operation copies existing pages into a new PDF rather than redesigning their content.

How many files can I merge at once?

The current request limit is 20 uploaded files, subject to the combined upload-size limit.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

No. Password-protected PDFs are not accepted in this version.

Plan the final page order before merging

Merging is easiest when every source document is already in the order you want. Think about title pages, appendices, supporting evidence, invoices, and blank separator pages before creating the combined file. If two source files use different page sizes or orientations, the merged PDF can legitimately contain a mixture of portrait, landscape, A4, Letter, or custom pages.

After export, use the page thumbnails in a PDF reader to verify the transition between source files. A correct page count is useful, but it does not prove that the sequence is correct. For formal submissions, also check that bookmarks, forms, digital signatures, or document-level metadata were not part of a workflow that requires specialist preservation.

Keep source files until the combined copy is accepted

A merged document is a new output, not a replacement for every source file. Keep the originals until the recipient, upload portal, or archive accepts the combined version. This is especially important when a later correction affects only one attachment and you need to rebuild the package without extracting pages from an older merged copy.
